Travel passport translation
Sworn translation of travel passport pages — when an office asks for the passport specifically as the source of name and transliteration, not an internal ID. We often use it as the name-spelling reference for other translations.
A travel passport is the main source of Latin name spelling. Sworn translation is needed when an office will not accept a copy alone and requires an official translation.
Passport translation: the name reference for Polish offices
When do they ask for a passport translation, not a copy?
When they need the field text officially in Polish.A bank, notary or consulate may require a sworn translation of the data spread with name, citizenship, dates and issuing authority — even if staff can “already read” the English fields.
How does a passport differ from a dowód?
Different documents with different fields.A passport is for travel and international ID. An internal passport / ID card has its own service page. Do not order a “passport translation” if the UW list specifically asks for a dowód osobisty.
Which pages to translate?
The data spread; visas only on request. The base pack is the photo page with the MRZ. Visa stamps are translated only when the office asks for them explicitly.
Reference for other translations
Names in a birth certificate and diploma are checked against the passport.Send the passport with the pack — all translations will share one transliteration, without name drift on the residence card.
Expired passport
We can translate it; acceptance is up to the office. Some bank actions need a valid document. To explain a name history, an older passport is sometimes enough.
Apostille on a passport
Usually not applied. An apostille on the passport booklet is almost unused. Legalisation may apply to supporting certificates, not the passport itself.
Languages we translate passports into
We work both ways: a foreign document into Polish for offices in Poland, a Polish document into the destination-country language.
Documents from Ukraine for offices in Poland — the most common pair.
Soviet-era documents and those issued in Russia and Belarus.
Documents from the UK, Ireland, the USA, India and the UAE.
Polish documents for Ukrainian offices — certificates, extracts, rulings.
For foreign employers, universities and consulates.
For offices and banks in countries that require Russian.
Three types of translation — and when you need each
If the document goes to a public office — you need a sworn translation. Prices below are for Ukrainian, Russian and English; other languages are quoted separately.
When the passport itself is translated
Cases where the identity source is a travel passport — not a civil-status act and not a national ID.
Official name text and document details.
Bank, notariuszWhen the form requires a sworn passport translation.
KonsulatRarely as a standalone translation; more often as the name reference.
Urząd WojewódzkiIdentity check in procedural documents.
Sąd, pełnomocnictwoApostille on a passport
An apostille is almost never placed on a travel passport booklet. If an office asks for legalisation — check whether they mean another document in the pack.
Who already ordered
All reviewsI sent a photo in the evening, had a PDF by morning, and the paper copy in Wrocław two days later. Urząd Wojewódzki accepted it without questions.
They asked to match the name spelling to the passport — I would not have thought of it. That is why the pack was accepted first time.
The amount quoted on Telegram did not change. Good when there are no “extra pages” at the end.
FAQ
These are the questions we hear most about this document.
No. By default we translate the data spread. Visas and stamps are added only per the office’s list.
